Push & Shove, by the Youth Filmmaker Project is a series of short films produced by the team that brought you the award winning feature anthology film Rights Of Passage.

Push & Shove is a series of stand-alone films that are a timely counterpoint to the demands for change and the rage expressed by students and youth in South Africa, as they call out the complacency of the status quo. Written and directed by first time filmmakers Mthokozisi Lembethe, Ntombizodwa Magagula, Siphamandla Ngcobo, Mapula Sibanda, Davashni Rajoo, Trudy Rozani, Lerato Moloi, Ziphelele Dube, Zandile Wardle, Ntombozuko “Twiggy” Matiwana, Cameo Edwards, Nomthandazo “NomAy” Matola, Vivek Mehta and Ntuthuko Qwabe,

The themes and story ideas of the films reflect the minutiae of young black South Africans experience of exclusion, disaffection, racism, intergenerational conflict and the universal quest for identity, belonging and love in post-apartheid South Africa.
At a time of uncertainty the films present a profoundly affecting creative expression of the courage of a generation unafraid to question and challenge all and everything that stands in the way of a truly egalitarian future. .
